"I would like to thank you for having supported me during this school year and for making my everyday life so much easier. I graduated from high school as the best student in my generation and enrolled in the Faculty of Economics! Once again, thank you very much for your help!"
Jovan Stević from Čačak, one of 100 high school students whom we provided scholarship for last year
The Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation in cooperation with a group of donors from the diaspora have been awarding scholarships to high school students in the Republic of Serbia for three consecutive years.
We have received more than 500 applications for the competition for the 2019/2020 school year, indicating that there is an extremely large number of children in need of support, and therefore we invite everyone interested to join us and make donations for the scholarship program to support as many families and children as possible.
63 scholarships were awarded to high school students with excellent success with the aim of rewarding excellent students whose families have economic difficulties, and 74 to students whose at least one parent/guardian had refugee status in the Republic of Serbia and had fled from the Republic of Croatia, or the Republic of Serbian Krajina.
276 student have received scholarship over three years.
In the 2017/2018 school year 39 students received scholarships, while for the 2018/2019 school year 100 scholarships were awarded in the amount of RSD 10,000 per month.
In the 2018/2019 school year, 50 scholarships were awarded to high school students with excellent success with the aim of rewarding excellent students whose families have economic difficulties and thus rewarding their great effort and dedication to make progress in their education. Information about the results of the competition can be found HERE. Of these, six scholarships are for children who have health problems provided by our longtime donor Anka Erne.
In accordance with the donors' wish, an additional 50 scholarships were awarded to students who achieve excellent learning success and display exemplary conduct and whose at least one parent/guardian had refugee status in the Republic of Serbia and had fled from the Republic of Croatia, or the Republic of Serbian Krajina. You can see more about this competition HERE.
Dear Sir or Madam,
...As far as gratitude is concerned... I cannot find proper words to express the amount of gratitude I feel. I would like to thank you for the opportunity to be your scholarship holder, for the experiences I have gained on this trip by volunteering and helping others, even though they do not have anything or cannot give us back. There is nothing more beautiful than feeling generous and warm when we do some good deed. I wonder what it feels like for you - knowing that my deeds are far less significant than yours and my possibilities are scarcer. Congratulations for the idea and making it happen. I would like to say thank you to the Divac family for their help. People like you are changing the world. Rest assured the world is richer now for a bunch of smiles!
Keep doing this, so some knowledge, experience, selfless help, and smiles just pile up.
The basic criteria for awarding scholarships are that students have achieved excellent success, as well as that they have won prizes in science or sports competitions, with particular regard to the social status of the family and the health status of its members.
All of our scholarship holders are volunteers who have been helping their community - the Red Cross, less privileged fellow citizens, or schoolmates who are having problems with a particular subject at school. You can also read about all this in the stories of our scholarship holders who have been sending us letters of appreciation and certificates of volunteering.
Dear Sir or Madam,
First of all, I would like to thank you for all that you have done for me and my family during the last two years, because you have made this school year so much easier and more beautiful. I am glad that there are still people who appreciate and recognize someone's hard work and dedication, and I sincerely hope that one day I will be able to help others in a similar way.
I will always remember the month of June this school year. I graduated from high school, passed my final exam with great success, and enrolled in the faculty I had always wanted.
Kindest regards from my family and me!
