On December 7th, 2023 contracts were signed with 16 informal groups of young people from Zaječar that will be supported within the Youth Funds project.
All the projects that were selected in the call have a positive effect on improving the lives of young people in the most diverse areas: culture, education, sports, health and safety. A large number of projects from rural areas were also supported, and they will have the opportunity to improve the lives of young people in their community in the coming months by renovating spaces for young people, arranging sports fields and organizing events.
The total value of the supported youth projects in Zaječar is 1,114,840 dinars of which the city of Zaječar allocated 300,000 dinars.
The projects that were supported were decided by young people from Zaječar, who have the role of the Committee for announcing tenders and making decisions on financing projects of informal groups of young people from the territory of that city. The Youth Funds project is implemented with the aim of increasing the participation of young people in the processes of local development through the allocation of non-reimbursable funds to projects initiated and led by young people themselves.
As part of the German development cooperation project "Perspectives for young people in rural areas in Serbia", implemented by GIZ in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and Youth, youth funds are supported in selected communities: Obrenovac, Prokuplje, Zaječar, Vlasotince and Vladičin Han. During the previous support cycle, a total of 63 youth projects from these five local governments were supported.
