About the project:

In May 2014, Serbia and the region suffered catastrophic floods which created havoc and resulted in many victims. The municipalities of Obrenovac, Svilajnac, Paraćin and Krupanj were particularly badly affected. Households, houses and public buildings were destroyed, with kindergartens and schools suffering the most. After the May floods, the Foundation directed its assistance towards those populations residing in areas affected by the floods. As part of its assistance to the flooded areas, the Foundation helped with the renovation of damaged houses through the donation of construction material and the procurement of furniture, the award of grants for the renewal of destroyed agricultural production and family businesses and the repair of damaged kindergartens, schools and sports fields.

Output:

Thanks to donor support, the Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation was able to repair 142 family houses in   Obrenovac, Svilajnac, Paraćin, Trstenik, Mionica and Bijeljina by donating construction materials and provided 49 families with new furniture. The Foundation awarded 217 grants for the renewal of damaged agricultural production and family businesses in Obrenovac, Svilajnac, Valjevo, Osečina, Mali Zvornik and Ljubovija, Bijeljina (BiH) and Orašje (BiH). In addition to the repair of family houses, smallholdings and family businesses in the flooded areas, the Foundation was engaged in the repair of public buildings which are vital to their local communities. The Foundation helped to repair 6 schools, 3 kindergartens, 2 centres for children with developmental disabilities and 11 sports fields and halls in Obrenovac, Krupanj, Bogatić, Ljubovija, Jelav, Bašin, Medoševac, Gornji Milanovac, Smederevska Palanka, Paraćin and Tekija.
