About the Project:

Given the relatively high unemployment in Serbia and the potential of agriculture to decrease this, the Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation launched a project aimed at economic empowerment and the support of those who want to start and further develop their own agri-business. Besides the improvement of the position of individual farmers, this project advances the development of underdeveloped areas and municipalities in Serbia, which ultimately may help to reduce the negative trend of uncontrolled migration to larger cities and the imbalanced development of all parts of Serbia.

Based on the jointly established criteria, the Foundations and its project partners announces a call for business ideas, after which the joint commission visits the candidates who applied and passed the first selection cycle. After having completed monitoring in the field final beneficiaries can be selected to be awarded funds to purchase equipment and tools, and certificates or additional training and mentor assistance to implement the approved entrepreneurial ideas.

Output:

Since its establishment, the Foundation has awarded 941 grants in the value of EUR 1,384,923.00 to those who wanted to start or further develop their agricultural production, including support to refugees and internally displaced persons to start agricultural production (RAISE Project implemented together with UniCredit Bank and UniCredit Foundation) in village households donated by the Foundation and projects implemented in partnership with local governments in 14 municipalities all over Serbia. The implementation of this project was also supported by the Canadian Embassy in the Republic of Serbia and a private donor, Ms. Anne Erne, from the USA.
